KINESIOTAPING

A type of technique in which we want to optimize the function of different types of tissues and physiological systems where it brings back the body to its homeostatic state.

Applications: acute and chronic pain, muscle imbalance, postural insufficiency, circulatory and lymphatic conditions, fascial adhesions and scars, pathological movements, neurological conditions.

The tape works with the central nervous system by the receptors located on the skin. Depending on the technique applied the skin receives different types of sensations where the sensory input goes to the spinal cord and cortex.

Examples:

On muscles we achieve: pain relief, optimizes range of motion, and improves length creating optimal force, faster tissue recovery and fatigue reduction.

Affects joints biomechanics by: balancing agonist and antagonist, reduces protective muscle guarding and pain, supports ligament and tendon.
